External Affairs Manager - Public Sector - London
Westminster Search is partnering with a membership organisation to recruit an experienced and strategic External Affairs Manager. This is a key leadership role responsible for enhancing the organisation’s influence and profile among policymakers, stakeholders, and the media.
The Role
As External Affairs Manager, you will oversee public affairs, media relations, and stakeholder engagement, working closely with senior leadership to position the organisation as a trusted voice within its sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead external affairs strategy across policy, media, and stakeholder engagement
- Build relationships with government, regulators, journalists, and sector partners
- Represent the organisation at events, roundtables, and in the media
- Line manage a small team and oversee cross-functional collaboration
- Monitor policy and media developments and provide strategic advice to senior leaders
- Draft high-level briefings, opinion pieces, and external messaging
Person Specification
- Strong background in public affairs, communications, or external relations
- Excellent understanding of political and media landscapes
- Confident stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- Exceptional writing, briefing, and presentation ability
- Experience in a membership or representative organisation is desirable
