Our client, a prestigious Public Affairs consultancy based in London, is seeking an exceptional Director to join their senior leadership team. This is a high-profile opportunity to lead strategic public affairs campaigns for blue-chip clients whilst driving business growth and shaping the agency's strategic direction.
The Role
As Director, you will take a senior leadership role within the agency, managing major client relationships, leading complex public affairs campaigns, and contributing to the overall strategic development of the business. You will oversee high-value accounts, mentor senior team members, and play a key role in new business development and thought leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the agency's most prestigious and complex client accounts
- Develop and execute sophisticated public affairs strategies for FTSE 100 and multinational clients
- Drive new business development and lead major pitch presentations to prospective clients
- Build and maintain relationships with senior political figures, civil servants, and industry leaders
- Provide strategic counsel to C-suite executives and board-level clients
- Lead crisis management and reputation recovery campaigns for high-profile clients
- Oversee regulatory and policy campaigns across multiple sectors and jurisdictions
- Mentor and develop senior consultants and account directors within the team
- Contribute to agency strategy, growth planning, and market positioning
- Represent the agency at industry events, conferences, and in media commentary
- Manage P&L responsibility for significant client portfolios
- Lead international coordination for global clients and cross-border campaigns
The Candidate
We are seeking a senior public affairs professional with extensive consultancy experience and a proven track record of managing complex, high-stakes political and regulatory campaigns.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven track record managing major corporate clients and multi-million pound accounts
- Extensive network of relationships across Westminster, Whitehall, and Brussels
- Strong new business development experience with demonstrable revenue generation
- Experience advising C-suite executives and managing board-level relationships
- Deep understanding of UK and EU political systems, regulatory frameworks, and policy processes
- Proven crisis management experience in high-profile, politically sensitive situations
- Outstanding strategic thinking and analytical capabilities
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Track record of team leadership and people development
- Degree from leading university; advanced qualifications preferred
Highly Desirable:
- Previous experience in government, civil service, or senior political roles
- International public affairs experience across multiple jurisdictions
- Sector specialisation in areas such as financial services, technology, or healthcare
- Think tank or policy institute background
- Media commentary and thought leadership experience
- Professional board appointments or advisory roles
- Fluency in European languages
