Associate Director – Technology - Public Relations & Public Affairs Agency - London
Westminster Search is partnering with a leading integrated communications agency to recruit a strategic and commercially minded Associate Director to join its thriving technology practice. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a senior consultant with deep expertise in the tech sector and a passion for delivering high-impact communications and policy work.
Working across public affairs, corporate comms, and reputation management, you will lead a portfolio of innovative clients including global tech platforms, fast-growth scale-ups, and policy-shaping trade bodies.
The Role
As Associate Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of strategic communications and public affairs programmes, guiding multi-disciplinary teams, and acting as the key point of contact for senior clients. You will provide expert counsel on political, reputational, and regulatory challenges affecting the tech sector, as well as contributing to business development and agency leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead client accounts in the tech and digital sectors, delivering integrated communications and public affairs strategies
- Act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders on reputation, media engagement, regulation, and political risk
- Manage and mentor high-performing consultants, ensuring the consistent delivery of quality and insight
- Oversee campaign strategy, stakeholder engagement, media relations, thought leadership, and crisis response
- Monitor tech policy developments across the UK, EU, and global landscape, translating insights into client impact
- Represent the agency at industry events and contribute to thought leadership and profile-building
- Drive account growth and support new business through pitching and strategic input
- Ensure high standards of client servicing, budget management, and delivery across multiple workstreams
Person Specification
Essential Experience & Skills
- Extensive experience in PR, public affairs, or integrated communications
- Proven success leading accounts within the tech or digital innovation sectors
- Strong understanding of political, regulatory, and reputational issues facing technology companies
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Established media and/or political stakeholder relationships
- Experience managing teams and budgets, with a focus on developing talent and supporting progression
- Commercial mindset with a track record of securing and growing client business
Desirable Attributes
- Experience working with clients on issues such as data, AI, platform regulation, competition, or innovation policy
- Strong network across tech media, think tanks, industry bodies, and Parliament
- Understanding of UK and EU digital policy landscape
- Agency or consultancy background preferred
