Account Manager – Public Affairs - London - Competitive
Westminster Search is working with a well-established and respected public affairs consultancy to recruit a confident and politically astute Account Manager. The Role
As Account Manager, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day client engagement, developing political strategies, and supporting the delivery of integrated public affairs campaigns. You’ll be a key point of contact for clients, trusted to provide insight, advice, and execution that delivers results in a fast-moving political landscape.
You’ll work across several client accounts, helping them navigate Westminster, Whitehall, and devolved institutions, and contribute to the overall success and growth of the agency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day activity across a portfolio of client accounts
- Develop and deliver political engagement strategies aligned with client objectives
- Build and maintain relationships with parliamentarians, advisers, civil servants, and other stakeholders
- Monitor parliamentary and policy developments, providing timely analysis and advice
- Draft briefings, consultation responses, reports, stakeholder maps, and correspondence
- Support the organisation of events, meetings, and political engagement activities
- Act as a trusted adviser to clients, ensuring high-quality, responsive service
- Support senior colleagues in new business development through research, proposals, and pitches
- Contribute to mentoring junior team members and maintaining a positive team culture
- Stay informed of emerging trends, risks, and opportunities across relevant sectors
Person Specification
Essential Experience & Skills
- Experience working in public affairs, political consultancy, Parliament, a think tank, or a regulated industry
- Strong understanding of UK politics, policymaking, and legislative processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear, concise briefings and client updates
- Track record of building relationships with political stakeholders and engaging with government processes
- Confident managing multiple accounts and priorities simultaneously
- Client-focused with a proactive and professional approach
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret political and policy developments
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a close-knit team
Desirable Attributes
- Experience working with clients in regulated sectors such as health, energy, transport, or technology
- Awareness of devolved political institutions and policy environments
- Familiarity with political monitoring tools and public affairs databases
- Interest in media, reputation management, and integrated communications campaigns
- Involvement in new business development, pitches, or client growth initiatives
